LPY Law Group

Success Highlight: EB-2 NIW Approval for Political Scientist, Scholar, and Writer from Bangladesh

On June 30, 2023, LPY Law Group received approval of an EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) I-140 immigrant petition for a scholar and writer in political science from Bangladesh. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) approved the petition without Request For Evidence.

For EB-2 I-140 immigrant petitions, the petitioner must show that he is either an advanced degree professional or possesses exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business. For most EB-2 I-140 petitions, he must also have a permanent US job offer and an approved labor certification. However, a National Interest Waiver or NIW waives the requirements of a permanent US job offer and an approved labor certification if the petitioner can show that his entry into the US as a permanent resident is in the national interest.

Our client has the U.S. equivalent of a Master of Social Sciences (M.S.S.) degree in Political Science and Ph.D. degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. Evidence of his achievements and significant contributions to political science included a series of scholarly publications that he authored and were published in prestigious forums, including books, peer-reviewed journals, and international conferences. Demonstrating the recognition of his achievements and contributions, evidence was submitted of his editorial services for academic publishers and also invited/guest speaker engagements. In addition, evidence was presented of the various media reports about the client and his work, along with reviews of his scholarly works.

Based on the substantive evidence, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest by providing valuable insights into government and political systems, public policy, and political behavior, thereby supporting the formulation of public policies that promote stable governments and bolster international peace and conflict resolution efforts. We are honored to have represented this client and apply our legal expertise to enable him to contribute his unique gifts and talents to this country and we look forward to his future success!
